For the first time in its history, the Nova School of Business and Economics (NOVA) is awarded a European Research Area (ERA) Chair to establish a Centre of Excellence in Social Innovation. Led by Prof. Daniel Traça, the SOCIALinNOVA-HUB project aims to support the university in becoming a European reference in social innovation research. The establishment of a new centre of excellence aims, among other things, to strengthen the university's research operations and to promote the expansion of international research networks. In this way, the ERA Chair is to make an active contribution to the development of the European Research Area.

The project is advised by a high-ranking International Advisory Board (IAB), of which Jürgen Howaldt, Director of the Social Research Centre, is a member.
