Introduction of CAD into Engineering Bureaux of the Building Industry

Because of decreases in the price of hardware und software, the use of CAD is increasing in importance also in bureaux of the building industry. So far this development is only at its beginning. No far-reaching effects on the planning process in building or on the qualification demands made of the employees involved can yet be discerned. One decivise reason seems to be the "island solutions" which are to be explained by the dispersal of planning processes among a number of de jure independent operators. The situation currently observable is however only a transitional stage. It can be assumed that structural changes will emerge, making a continuous EDP-aided processing of projects easier. The effects on those concerned will differ according to the direction of change.
